The Delekta Review

Rafa Zafra opened the first Per Feina at Ciutat de Granada 130 in Poblenou in 2022. The idea was a Tier-1 chef's cooking at lunch-menu prices, signed by the man who ran elBulli's Hacienda Benazuza when it held two stars and then opened Estimar, Amar, Casa Jondal. It didn't survive the maths of the neighbourhood. He closed Poblenou last summer and re-opened the concept in February 2025 at Via Augusta 9 — upper Barcelona, higher catchment, same idea executed properly the second time. The dining room is run by Mireia Jordan; the kitchen sits with Stefano Schirru, who came up through the Estimar opening team. Two cartes on the same paper: 'Per Feina' for the working day, plates mostly under thirteen euros, and 'Per Plaer' for the evening, plates mostly under twenty. €24 lunch menu. Cristina Carulla designed the room in warm wood with formica nods and blood-red accents. Continuous service Tue–Sat noon to midnight.

What works

Real Tier-1 chef cooking at lunch-menu prices is structurally rare in Barcelona and Zafra is recalibrating the concept on the second attempt — a higher-catchment Via Augusta address, the Estimar-alum kitchen, the two-carte format that lets the room behave like a working bistro at noon and a proper restaurant at night. Cristina Carulla's design gives it identity; Crónica Global followed both the closure and the reopening, 7 Caníbales filed a concept profile, BCN Foodie Guide and Plateselector confirm the kitchen executes nine months in. The €24 lunch menu remains the headline value proposition in upper Barcelona.

Before you go

This is the second attempt at the same concept — the Poblenou original closed in summer 2025 because the affordable-luxury maths didn't work there; the Via Augusta business model is still being calibrated and bandwidth is genuinely split. Press file leans on opening-frame coverage from 2025 H1; Time Out hasn't filed a review of the new address yet, no Michelin recognition. One Tripadvisor reviewer flagged stretched service and small portions at peak — single data point but worth knowing for a young operation. Closed Sunday and Monday; lunch slot fills first.
