Llamber

Asturian Modern · El Born, Barcelona · €€€

Asturian-modern restaurant. Chef Fran Heras. Fabada, sidra-braised meats, excellent seafood. One of the most interesting regional Spanish restaurants in Barcelona.

The Delekta Review

Llamber in El Born brings Asturian cooking to Barcelona with chef Fran Heras at the helm — fabada, cachopo, and sidra poured from height in the traditional escanciada style. In a city dominated by Catalan and Mediterranean kitchens, a committed Asturian restaurant is a genuinely different proposition, and Llamber makes the case with seriousness rather than novelty. The fabada is the benchmark: white beans, chorizo, morcilla and lacón cooked slowly in the Asturian canon, not a gentrified reinterpretation. The cachopo — breaded veal stuffed with ham and cheese — arrives at its proper scale, which is to say absurdly large and genuinely satisfying. The cider programme extends to a selection of Asturian cheeses and a wine list that digs into northern Spain beyond the usual suspects. The Born space has the warmth of a sidrería without the costume. Prices are moderate. For anyone homesick for Asturias or curious about a cuisine Barcelona doesn't usually showcase, Llamber is the address — one of the most interesting regional Spanish restaurants in the city.
