The Delekta Review
Casa Maians on Carrer de l'Almirall Churruca is the newer Barceloneta addition that quickly became the local go-to — which in a neighbourhood dominated by tourist seafood places is a genuine achievement. The signature is the bomba — Barceloneta's iconic potato ball — topped with jamón ibérico and jalapeños, a twist that shouldn't work but absolutely does. The rest of the menu is seasonal, changing with market availability: boquerons en vinagre, tartar de tonyina, rice dishes when the kitchen feels like it, strong grilled fish when it arrives. Prices are fair for the Barceloneta. The cooking has personality without being showy, and the clientele skews overwhelmingly local — the kind of neighbourhood restaurant this barri needed more of: honest food, zero pretension, a kitchen with ideas of its own.
