L'Antic Forn

Traditional Catalan · El Raval, Barcelona · €€

Family-run for 35+ years in a former Raval bread oven. Jerònima and Pedro, their children Silvia and Pedro — all cook and serve. Charcoal grill, traditional stews, fresh fish. The crema catalana is Barcelona's dreamiest. Three dining rooms, open kitchen.

The Delekta Review

The name means 'the old bakery' — and it is one. The building on Carrer Pintor Fortuny, metres from La Rambla, was the neighbourhood bread oven known as La Confianza. Framed photographs on the walls show the Raval gathering around it decades ago. Today Jerònima and Pedro run the kitchen alongside their children Silvia and Pedro — a genuine family operation where everyone cooks and everyone serves. The charcoal grill is the centrepiece: meats, fish, and seasonal vegetables cooked over live fire. The stews are traditional and unhurried — the kind that need time and refuse shortcuts. The crema catalana is widely cited as one of the best in the Raval. Three dining rooms, an open kitchen visible to diners, and a small terrace with two tables for those who prefer the street. Calçotada in season. The menu changes with what the suppliers bring each morning. Prices are remarkably honest for a restaurant this close to La Rambla.
