Awards: Guía Repsol
Repsol two-sun restaurant by chef Albert Ventura. Revisited Catalan cuisine with French influences, tasting menus from €35-€60, in an elegant basement setting with interior patio.
The Delekta Review
Coure, on Passatge de Marimon, is chef Albert Ventura's exercise in cooking for the love of cooking. The restaurant previously held a Michelin star — losing it was a talking point in Barcelona's dining circles, though many critics and diners argued the quality never dropped. Ventura is technically accomplished and deeply rooted in Catalan tradition with a modern sensibility. The tasting menu runs €80-110 for creative Mediterranean cuisine that emphasises seasonal fish, shellfish and inventive vegetable courses. The restaurant occupies a quiet passage off the main streets — easy to miss if you're not looking, which is perhaps fitting for a chef who doesn't chase trends or headlines. Some consider Coure underrated since the star loss. Whether or not a guide validates it, the cooking speaks for itself.
