The Delekta Review

La Dama occupies the mezzanine of Casa Sayrach — a modernista building on Avinguda Diagonal that looks exactly like the apartment a Belle-Époque socialite would keep for herself. Mirrored doorways, crimson velvet banquettes, vintage floral wallpaper. Chef Edouard Deplus cooks a French-Mediterranean register that manages to hold its own against a room this theatrical — which, given how often these ornate spaces oversell the kitchen, is the compliment that matters. The calamar carbonara a la Sayrach (26€) is the signature: squid cut to mimic cavatappi pasta, cream, guanciale, tinta. The steak tartare (27€) is a benchmark. Roasted leeks (19€), grilled lamb (34€), and a deconstructed baklava with pistachio cream round out a card written in each dish's language of origin. Three-course lunch menu at 35€. Bartender Andrea ranks among Spain's top World Class competitors. Candlelit evening service is when the room finally earns the name. Premium prices, but for a setting and kitchen this distinctive, proportionate.
