The Delekta Review

Buriti brings Bahian Brazilian cooking to Poblenou, named after the Amazonian palm known as the Tree of Life. The kitchen works through a tapas-sized format — moqueca with coconut milk and dendê oil, acarajé with vatapá and caruru, coxinha, and farofa-dusted plates that ground the menu in genuine Afro-Brazilian tradition. The flavours are distinct from anything else in the city: palm oil warmth, malagueta heat, the perfumed lift of coriander. Prices are moderate, the room is colourful, and the service carries the warmth of a restaurant that clearly enjoys what it's doing. In a Latin American scene that too often defaults to Peruvian ceviches or Mexican tacos, Buriti offers a distinctively Brazilian voice — skilled, rooted, and worth the trip east to Poblenou.
