Tiberi Bar
Catalan / Mediterranean Sharing Plates · Poble Sec, Barcelona · €€
Awards: Repsol Solete
Open since 2018
The Delekta Review
Tiberi Club has been a gastronomic-creative collective since 2018. Four founders (Miquel Ruiz Planella and Helena Fradera on the architecture side, Rocío Iglesias Tejedor on the journalism side, Roger Vila on performing arts) running ephemeral dinners and pop-ups across Barcelona. In July 2023 they opened their first permanent address at the corner of Vila i Vilà 67 in Poble Sec, designed by h3o architects around an irregular green-marble bar and a soft cloud-projection ceiling, and put Fran Baixas in the kitchen — daughter of Jó Baixas at Follia in Sant Joan Despí, four years before that in Mugaritz R&D. The format is Catalan-Mediterranean sharing plates with a real natural-wine cellar behind it, served at working-tavern prices. Gilda XL, pollastre rostit focaccia, polenta a la brasa con salvia, calabaza con labneh, caballa en escabeche. Repsol Solete; Eater 38.
What works
A creative-collective restaurant that earned its first physical address — five years of Tiberi Club pop-ups across Barcelona before the lease, four founders from architecture, journalism and performing arts, h3o-designed room around a green-marble bar. Fran Baixas's Mugaritz-R&D years show up in the small things: a Gilda blown up to centerpiece scale, grilled polenta with sage, pumpkin with labneh, the pollastre rostit focaccia that everyone repeats. Natural wine from real producers, €5.50 by-the-glass entry, working-tavern prices on a Poble-sec corner. Eater put it on the 38; Repsol gave it a Solete; Time Out, Le Cool, CCMagazine and Elástica all came out.
Before you go
Small room and a 2023 opening with strong English-language coverage means weekend slots disappear fast — book through Restoo a week out at the minimum. Menu is short and changes seasonally; not a tasting-menu destination, the point is the platillo format. A minority report on Google flags the menu as small and pricey for what it is; reads as the standard 'small Poble-sec spot with hype' friction rather than a real flaw. Cocktail program exists but is secondary — the lemon-gin pomada and mezcal paloma are it; come for food and natural wine, not for a cocktail destination. Closed Mondays; lunch only Sat and Sun.
