Awards: Michelin Selection

Hilltop Montjuïc restaurant where diners pilgrimage for grilled seafood and arguably Barcelona's prettiest views. Book the sun-drenched terrace.

The Delekta Review

You don't hike up Montjuïc for any meal — you come for Martínez. People pilgrimage to this hilltop institution for the grilled seafood, the deep Spanish-and-Catalan wine list, and arguably the prettiest views in Barcelona. The kitchen specializes in arroces, cooked over embers in traditional pans with proper socarrat — that toasty, slightly burnt-edge crunch — and seafood that tastes like it was landed that morning. The fideuà is even better than the paella. Two distinct experiences live under one roof: by day, the sun-drenched 300m² terrace surrounded by tropical greens with the port spread below; by night, the more formal dining room with dim lighting and the city's most striking skyline view. Michelin Selection, deserved, and famous enough that Bruce Springsteen drops in on his Barcelona swings. Book the terrace at sunset weeks ahead — that's when this place earns its reputation.
