Tandoor
Modern North Indian · Eixample, Barcelona · €€
Generational North Indian on Aragó. Ivan Surinder took over his father's tandoor, trained at Tickets and rebuilt the menu with seasonal restraint and local produce.
The Delekta Review
Ivan Surinder grew up in his father's kitchen on Aragó — the original Tandoor opened in the late nineties, part of Barcelona's first wave of serious Indian dining — and took over at 23 after a nine-month stage at Tickets under Albert Adrià. That pedigree shows. This is North Indian cooking rebuilt with a chef's restraint: lighter on ghee, precise on spice, garnished with seasonal Catalan produce without tipping into fusion. The industrial-chic room by Isabel López Vilalta (designer of El Celler de Can Roca) is as far from cushions-with-mirrors as Barcelona Indian gets. Order the tandoori lamb chops, the chicken korma, the paneer tikka and the creative vegetable croquettes; the midday menu at 12 euros is one of the best-value lunches in the Eixample. Vegetarians are looked after seriously.
