Chennai Masala Dosa
South Indian · Les Corts, Barcelona · €
Barcelona's only South Indian restaurant, family-run by Amritha Rajkumar, specializing in 22 varieties of dosa made fresh with traditional recipes.
The Delekta Review
Chennai Masala Dosa sits on Carrer de Galileu in Les Corts, and as the only South Indian kitchen in Barcelona it shoulders a peculiar responsibility: introducing an entire regional cuisine to a city that generally collapses all of India into generic curry-house menus. Amritha Rajkumar and her family run it with the quiet confidence of people cooking what they've always cooked. Twenty-two varieties of dosa come out crisp-edged and warm from the griddle — the masala dosa with coconut chutney and sambar is the natural entry point — alongside uttapam, idli, and a weekday thali that changes daily. Many dishes are naturally gluten- and dairy-free without having to advertise it. The room is functional, the service warm, the prices remarkably accessible for the city. For anyone who has eaten in Chennai, the food registers as immediately correct rather than approximate. For everyone else, it's a genuine discovery — the kind of restaurant that rewrites what you thought Indian food in Barcelona could be.
