Seis Cuarenta

Cervecería & Catalan · Les Corts, Barcelona · €€

Seis Cuarenta is a high-ceilinged cervecería on Avenida Diagonal from the team behind Colmado Wilmot — a vast, boisterous beer hall running breakfast through late night, with white-jacketed staff and a menu of classic Spanish tavern cooking done with genuine ambition.

The Delekta Review

Eugeni de Diego and Ana Alvarado could have coasted on Colmado Wilmot — they didn't. Seis Cuarenta is bigger, louder, and more democratic: a proper cervecería with white-jacketed waiters, a house-blended beer, and a kitchen that earns the room's noise. The salpicón de marisco is impeccable; the sardinas en escabeche arrive deboned with a clean citrus edge; the cubanito — brioche, lacón, cheddar, gherkins — is unapologetically indulgent. The tortilla hits the exact level of moltenness that separates serious from careless, and the macarrones with chorizo and iberian butifarra have become the obsession of the dining room. The croquetas land as correct rather than revelatory — a rare flat note. At 25–30€ average, it fills every service, and groups eat better here than at its more intimate sibling. The space was built for exactly that kind of noise.
