Malparit sits on Carrer de Viladomat in Sant Antoni with a punk-rock attitude that matches its name — the Catalan literally translates as 'badly born', and the cooking lives up to the spirit. Creative tapas that push traditional formats into unexpected territory: steak tartare with kimchi, patates braves with unexpected aioli variants, croquetes stuffed with whatever the kitchen felt like that morning. The plating is unfussy, the flavours are turned up, and the kitchen refuses to play safe. Works equally for a date, a team lunch, or a family dinner — the rare restaurant with genuine personality and genuine range. The kind of place that would be insufferable if the cooking weren't actually this good. But it is, so it isn't.
