A Poblenou warehouse where the espresso machine has to compete for attention with the bicycles hanging from the ceiling. La Fábrica has been roasting single-origin beans since 2015 for a clientele that skews heavily Lycra — cyclists refuelling after morning loops along the coast, freelancers parking laptops, a neighbourhood still figuring out what the end of its industrial era looks like. The coffee is serious: pulled with precision, beans labeled honestly, baristes who will talk brewing method without condescension. The food stays in its lane — pastries, avocado toast, açaí bowls that don't embarrass the cup next to them. Two addresses now: the Poblenou original on Dr. Trueta and a Born outpost on Carrer del Rec. Not a restaurant, not trying to be. But if you want Barcelona's third-wave coffee done without the café-as-content-studio aesthetic that plagues the genre elsewhere, this is where you go.
