Fonda Pepa was born in Gràcia during the pandemic, when chefs Paco Figueroa and Pedro Baños took over a space with over thirty years of history and turned it into what its most devoted reviewers have called "humble magic." The concept is loosely Catalan-Mexican: a menu that moves between Catalan classics, Latin American surprises and fresh seafood, all handled with a lightness that makes the combinations feel inevitable rather than forced. Ceviches and tiraditos share the menu with a fricandó that would pass any abuela's inspection. The lunch menu is the best-value point of entry and draws a neighbourhood crowd that clearly considers this their kitchen. A leafy back patio is the hidden bonus — one of the better al fresco moments in upper Gràcia. Around €50 per person at dinner. Warm, creative, genuinely comforting, and built on the unusual combination of two chefs who understand both sides of the Atlantic. A Gràcia reference after barely five years of life.
