El Glop
Traditional Catalan Grill · Gràcia, Barcelona · €€
Hearty Catalan grill restaurant in Gràcia. Calçots in season, grilled meats, and rustic Catalan classics. Large portions, festive atmosphere. A neighbourhood institution.
The Delekta Review
El Glop in Gràcia is a hearty Catalan grill that doesn't apologise for portion sizes — this is the kind of restaurant where the calçots arrive in enormous bundles and the botifarra fills the plate. The rustic stone-and-wood interior feels like a masia transplanted into the neighbourhood. Calçot season (January–March) is the main event: fire-roasted spring onions served with romesco, followed by grilled meats, a Catalan ritual that El Glop does with genuine commitment. Year-round, the grilled butifarra, escalivada, and traditional Catalan stews anchor the menu. The atmosphere is festive — communal tables, families, celebrations, and the kind of noise level that signals people are having a good time. Prices are moderate for the quality and quantity. Not a place for delicate cuisine or quiet conversation. A place for appetite, tradition, and the unapologetic pleasures of fire and meat. A Gràcia institution for a reason.
