La Madurada

Steakhouse & Grill · Horta-Guinardó, Barcelona · €€

Dry-aged steak specialist in Horta with one of Barcelona's largest aging chambers. Simmental and Frisona cuts aged 45-150 days, Black Angus croquettes, and Uruguayan grill technique.

The Delekta Review

La Madurada is a steak restaurant that takes the word 'madurada' — aged — seriously. The dining room features one of Barcelona's largest aging chambers, visible through glass, with up to sixty ribeye cuts hanging at any given time. Chef Joaquín Sánchez, originally from Uruguay and trained at the Basque Culinary Center, works primarily with Simmental and Frisona cattle aged between 45 and 150 days. The chuletón is the reason most people come, but the Black Angus beef cheek croquettes and the empanadas filled with aged trimmings and chimichurri are worth the detour to Horta on their own. Sister restaurant to Carnal Steak House but positioned as the more accessible, neighbourhood version — less formality, same quality of beef, and a tropical-planted dining room with individual smoke extractors at each table that keeps the meat smell where it belongs.
