Contracorrent
Seasonal Mediterranean · Eixample, Barcelona · €€
Two locations with seasonal, local focus and open kitchen. Chef Niko Dragó brings a deeply personal approach to Mediterranean cooking — strong technique and exceptional product quality.
The Delekta Review
Chef Niko Dragó's personal project works like a current against the grain — creative tapas paired with an orange-wine-leaning list curated by Anna. The cooking surprises in layers: avocado aguachile, anchovy tempura, small plates that keep rearranging themselves as the market shifts. The natural wine programme is the rare kind that rewards both the curious and the serious, with Anna steering diners toward bottles they wouldn't otherwise try. Technique sits in service of product rather than spectacle, and the intimate room lets the kitchen dictate the tempo. Heads-up: an unadvertised olive-oil charge with bread catches some diners off guard. Otherwise, this is one of the more genuinely exciting openings in the current Barcelona wave.
