Hidden 16-seat Gràcia gastrobar where the chef cooks and serves, explaining every dish personally. Basque-Catalan with Oriental and Latin touches; subdued lighting, jazz, and tapas serious enough to anchor the room. €60 for two with wine — book ahead.

The Delekta Review

Blavis is a 14-seat restaurant near Plaça Molina in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, where chef Marc Casadument cooks AND serves, explaining every dish personally. Dinner only, Tuesday through Saturday, 7pm to 10:30pm. Five staple dishes plus five that rotate based on daily market availability. The range is remarkable: aubergine carpaccio with goat cheese, artichoke hearts in garlic butter, Mexican pulled pork with guacamole, prawn ceviche, duck with roasted peppers, salmon tataki, and sweet pancakes with lemon and vanilla ice cream. A Catalan and Basque base with Latin American and Oriental riffs, often called among the best tapas in the city. Average around 30 euros per person, 60 for two with wine. Walk-ins are frequently turned away — book ahead. No lunch. Basic decor. But when the chef cooks your dinner, serves it himself, and explains what he made and why, the intimacy creates something most restaurants, regardless of budget, cannot match.
