Awards: Michelin Selection

Dani Lechuga's upscale bistro (sharing a wall with his Caldeni), widely considered Barcelona's best meat restaurant. Tartare, smoked tongue, and a legendary fricandó sandwich with Uruguayan Angus beef cheek; over two decades of excellence near Sagrada Família.

The Delekta Review

Bardeni is, by critical consensus, Barcelona's best meat restaurant — and it doesn't behave like one. Chef Dani Lechuga's "meatbar" shares a wall with his fine-dining restaurant Caldeni, but the philosophy is deliberately anti-fine-dining: no cutlery changes, no protocols. The Angus steak tartare — hand-chopped from a mix of tenderloin and picanha — has the slightly sharp edge that the hand-cut version always gives you. The dish that keeps regulars coming back is the fricandó: Uruguayan Angus beef cheek slow-cooked until it collapses, loaded onto a bite-sized sandwich with smooth cream cheese and homemade mushroom cream. The smoked ox tongue and the small-format dry-aged cuts round out a menu that treats every cut with equal seriousness. Michelin Selection status is a footnote; this is a neighborhood meatbar that happens to cook at an Eixample fine-dining level. At roughly €30 average, the value is excellent for this quality of meat. The no-reservations policy means waits during peak hours — the price of popularity for a concept that still feels fresh after more than a decade.
