Algrano Bistró
Italian Bistro · Eixample, Barcelona · €€
Where expat Italians go for birthday dinners. Perfect for date night with pasta.
The Delekta Review
Algrano has mastered one thing with unusual clarity: fresh pasta, handmade on-site every single day. In a city where Italian restaurants range from genuinely good to wildly aspirational, Algrano earns its reputation by focusing on fundamentals — quality flour, careful lamination, seasonal sauces that know when to get out of the pasta's way. The neighborhood crowd keeps it busy; expat Italians have adopted it as the birthday-dinner default, which is the kind of endorsement that matters more than a critic's rating. Prices are remarkably fair for handmade pasta of this quality. Now with two locations — the original on Carrer de Casp in the Eixample and a second on Carrer de Tamarit in Sant Antoni — the formula has proven portable. Not the most ambitious Italian restaurant in Barcelona, and not trying to be — but quite possibly the most satisfying on a weeknight when what you want is one plate, handled properly, without ceremony.
