Bar El Pepino

Italian-Catalan Wine Bar · Gràcia, Barcelona · €€

Natural wine bar with Italian flair run by Gianluca Raimondi (ex-La Graciosa). The prawn agnolotti is widely recognised as outstanding — among the best dishes the city offers in this register. Memorable wines and sharing plates in cozy Gràcia.

The Delekta Review

Bar El Pepino is what happens when a natural wine obsessive trained at La Graciosa opens an Italian-inflected trattoria on a quiet Gràcia side street. Owner Gianluca Raimondi has assembled a 100% natural wine list that draws serious oenophiles, but the food is no afterthought — the prawn agnolotti has been called by some local critics the best thing they've eaten in Barcelona. The carbonara is rich and creamy, the bavette cooked just right, the corvina light and flaky. The space is tiny and charming, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the street in warm weather. At around 40-50€ per person, you're paying for the quality of both glass and plate. The only consistent criticism is occasional service inconsistency — the focus on wine sometimes means the food pacing takes a backseat. A minor quibble for a bar that gets the fundamentals this right.
