Yashima
Japanese · Les Corts, Barcelona · €€€
One of Barcelona's pioneering Japanese restaurants since 1989, offering kaiseki tasting menus and specialty dining in tatami and teppanyaki rooms.
The Delekta Review
Yashima opened in 1989 as one of Barcelona's first serious Japanese restaurants, and more than three decades on it still has a point to make. Under the Yamashita Group it now runs four formats in one address: conventional tables, private tatami rooms, two teppanyaki grills and a sushi counter — each pitched at a different part of the tradition. The kaiseki tasting menu is the reason to come, six to fifteen courses built around vegetables, fish and select meats in carefully ordered sequences. The teppanyaki gives you the theatre; the tatami gives you the room as it should be. Average around 45€, lunch and dinner service. Not trying to be trendy — trying to be right, which in the end ages better.
