La Pepita

Creative Tapas · Gràcia, Barcelona · €€

Popular Gràcia tapas spot known for creative small plates and excellent bravas. Lively atmosphere, often with queues. A local institution.

The Delekta Review

La Pepita in Gràcia reinvented the pepito — the humble Spanish veal-steak baguette — into something creative, generous, and distinctly its own. Open since 2010, the family-run space on Carrer de Còrsega draws queues that spill down the block, especially on weekends. The menu goes off in all directions: deep-fried squid rings with kimchi mayo, foie crisps with chocolate, aubergine fritters with goat cheese and honey, mi-cuit with fennel and marinated pears. The "trifásico" — a trio of two tapas and one conserva — is the signature format, and the patatas bravas are among the city's best. Plating is generous and shaggy, layered with fresh herbs and creative sauces. The lunch menu under €15 (drink, soup, salad, pepita, dessert) is genuine value; most à la carte dishes run €5–10. Some reviewers note the eclectic menu lacks a single flavor thread, and there's truth in that — but the energy, the generosity, and the crowd of Gràcia locals who fill it nightly say the point was never focus. The point was abundance, and on that count La Pepita delivers.
