True neighbourhood bodega in El Born with tiled walls, wooden barrels and zero pretension. Local wine and honest tapas at rock-bottom prices.

The Delekta Review

Bodega La Tinaja on Carrer dels Carders is the kind of traditional tavern the Born has lost most of — an arched cellar with exposed brick, big old wine jars lining the walls, and a long bar that suggests fifty years of vermut service even if the dates don't quite match. The menu runs where you'd want it to: cured meats, cheeses, tortilla española, pan amb tomàquet, and the house specialty — chorizos al rom, grilled sausages flambéed in rum at the table, which is as theatrical as the kitchen gets and all the more charming for it. The wine list is longer and better than the room suggests, with staff willing to walk you through it at unhurried pace. Average spend hovers around €25, which in this stretch of the Born is close to a gift. The space is small and the popularity has grown, so booking in the evening is wise. A functioning piece of old Barcelona that hasn't retreated into costume.
