La Brillantina

Pan-Latin American · Gràcia, Barcelona · €€

Open since 2020

Pan-Latin American restaurant in Gràcia run by chef-pastelera couple Vanesa Zorzoli (Patagonia) and Santiago Macías (Colombia) — empanadas, encocado, yuca-flour tacos, and natural wines from across the continent.

The Delekta Review

Vanesa Zorzoli is a Buenos-Aires-trained pastelera from Argentine Patagonia; Santiago Macías is a Colombian chef with a research focus on Latin American cooking and a natural-wine fixation. The couple ran a restaurant in Buenos Aires before opening La Brillantina in Gràcia around 2020.

Pan-Latin American fusion — Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and other countries land on one menu. Natural wine list shaped by Macías's research, plus Colombian specialty filtered coffee with natural-process roast. Bretón de los Herreros corner of Gràcia, easygoing dining room with creative cocktails.

Colourful Gràcia room — pastel walls, straw pendant lamps, open kitchen, and rose-brass tableware. Cosy, modern, and Latin all at once.

Tostones de plátano verde with goat's-milk faiselle, capers and pickled onions. Encocado — monkfish, shrimp and cuttlefish in a coconut-milk and sofrito stew, served with coconut rice and yuca. Tacos on yuca-flour tortillas — mushroom and tomato, or chicken. Cured-corvina ceviche, the tiger's milk built on lulo, okra on the side. Quatro Leches — caramel-and-coconut Latin American dessert.
