Cal Chusco

Seafood & Rice · Barceloneta, Barcelona · €€

Isa's Barceloneta tapas-and-rice bar — 16 years on Carrer d'Emília Llorca, paellas as the headline draw and free tapas still served with the beer. Caldoso de bogavante and de marisco lead the rice list.

The Delekta Review

Barceloneta neighborhood bar with a paella program serious enough to be the draw, plus daily-rotating free tapas with every beer. Open early to evening (8:30–20:30); paella as the main pull.

Owner Isa took over 16 years ago, after losing her job during an economic downturn; the space was previously Bar Jordi. Mostly local clientele — the kind of Barceloneta corner the tourism industry hasn't yet reached.

Paellas are the headline; caldoso de bogavante and caldoso de marisco are the most-requested rice dishes. Bomba in the classical meat-and-potato format (a black-alioli variant has surfaced for neighborhood events). Free tapas with beer rotate daily: octopus, shrimp, ham, cheese, patatas bravas, chistorra, potato omelette, croquettes.

Barceloneta neighbourhood bar — 16 years on Carrer d'Emília Llorca, locals and visitors sharing the same room for paellas and free tapas with every beer.

Carrer d'Emília Llorca Martín 5, Barceloneta; open 8:30–20:30.
