The Delekta Review

On one of the Gothic's most beautiful hidden squares — Plaça de Sant Just, beside the Royal Academy of Good Letters — this restaurant has been a neighbourhood anchor since 1987. It closed during the pandemic and many feared the worst, but it has returned under Grupo San Telmo. The renovation preserved the stone walls and wood beams while recovering a ground-floor wine cellar and private dining room. The Catalan cooking is traditional and unashamed of it: cargols amb romesco, manetes de porc, fricandó with bolets, cap i pota. The weekday menú del dia at 16.90 euros is one of the Gòtic's best deals — four first courses, three mains, dessert and drink. The terrace on Plaça de Sant Just is the real treasure, candlelit dinners in a medieval square that most tourists walk right past. Wine comes in a porró. Dinner hovers around 20 to 40 euros. Open seven days, continuous kitchen from noon to 11pm.
