Arraval

Catalan · Ciutat Vella, Barcelona · €€

Arraval is Hotel Casa Teva's restaurant in the Raval — chefs Jordi Carbonell, Àlex López (ex Alkimia under Jordi Vilà), and Marcos Valyi reinterpret Catalan tradition through the multicultural lens of the neighbourhood, in a bright 50-seat room with a natural wine list.

The Delekta Review

López's training under Jordi Vilà reads directly on the plate. The pilota d'escudella amb patates fregides is a knowing riff on a Catalan grandmother's staple, tightened and plated with intention. The patata amb carbassó i botifarra carries the same Vilà-inflected discipline. But it's the bikini de sopa de ceba that has cut through fastest: slow-cooked onion sweetness against melted cheese in pressed bread, the kind of dish that earns a permanent menu spot within months of opening. The escudella, reframed with multicultural accents that mirror the Raval's own identity, shows the kitchen isn't just restating tradition — it's pushing it sideways. The room is warm, seats 50 with a private corner, and the natural wine list rewards the curious. One quiet caveat: let the staff steer you. This kitchen has a clear point of view, and the menu opens up when you stop second-guessing it.
