Mosquito

Asian Tapas & Craft Beer · El Born, Barcelona · €€

Chinese dumplings meets craft beer in El Born. Unlikely combo that works brilliantly. Homemade dim sum, bao buns, and Asian small plates. A Born institution.

The Delekta Review

Mosquito has been smuggling Asian street food into El Born since 2003, back when Barcelona had no idea what a har gao was and founder Gilles 'Jazz' Brown had to explain dumplings one table at a time. Two decades later, the hand-pinched dim sum on Carrer dels Carders remain the benchmark — egg noodles still pulled in-house, bao still steamed to order, a rotating roster of pho, wonton soup, Thai fish fritters and Szechuan beef pressed into a menu that balloons to 20+ plates after sunset. The trick that separates Mosquito from the wave of Asian-tapas imitators that followed: an obsessive craft-beer program with rotating Barcelona brewers that makes this half dumpling house, half cervesería. The room is tiny and loud, reservations only at dinner, service sometimes scattered. Consistency outside the dumpling section wobbles. Arrive early, park at the bar with something hoppy, and stay on the har gao.
