Creative market-driven cuisine in Poble Sec. Seasonal tasting menus with global influences. One of the neighbourhood's most talked-about spots.

The Delekta Review

Mano Rota in Poble Sec belongs to chefs Bernat Bermudo (Catalan) and Oswaldo Brito (Venezuelan), both Hofmann school alumni who opened on Carrer de la Creu dels Molers in April 2015. The tasting menu (60 to 65 euros for 3 snacks, 6 plates, 2 desserts) has no printed card: just tell them what you do not eat, and the kitchen surprises you. Sea bass ceviche with yellow pepper sauce, dashi broth with Iberian pork and seaweed, Thai suquet (coconut milk, peanuts, lime, green curry, sea bass with sofregit), yuca croquettes with Idiazábal and citrus mayo, and cod tripe ragout with rigatoni show why Bermudo says they do not fit a specific style — market cuisine, seasonal, with influences from Peru, Venezuela, Japan, Spain. The bar counter is the heart, not the tables. À la carte averages 30 euros, comida around 14. The fusion-everything approach will not appeal to purists. But the cooking is technically serious, the price-to-quality ratio is strong, and the chefs are cooking what they actually want to eat.
