Fonda Espanya occupies the modernista dining room of Hotel España (1859), a heritage-listed building remodelled by Lluís Domènech i Montaner with decorative work by Eusebi Arnau. Martín Berasategui has directed the kitchen since the 2010 restoration, applying Catalan-Mediterranean cooking to one of Barcelona's most ornate interiors.
