The Delekta Review

Juli Alcoriza grew up in Sant Andreu, trained at the Escola Hofmann, did five years at Suquet de l'Almirall under Quim Marqués in Barceloneta. Then opened Niu d'Or in Sant Joan Despí in 2009 and ran it for fifteen years. He came back to the barri he grew up in in January 2023 with his sister Susanna and opened L'Andreuenc on Carrer de Neopàtria — same family-recipes spine, working-class register, the quadribarrada colours of Unió Esportiva Sant Andreu on the wall, his grandmothers Carmen and Vicenta cited by name on the carte. The cooking is cuina d'àvia executed with proper technique: mar i muntanya of botifarra del perol with mongetes del ganxet and sípia bruta, morro de bacallà with fried tomato and pine nuts, callos, arròs amb gamba de Palamós, mandonguilles amb gambes. In September 2025 that mar i muntanya won the inaugural Lliga del Porc i la Forquilla — Catalonia's first competitive title for esmorzar de forquilla, finals at Fira MOS in Lleida — and the breakfast queue has been out the door since. €17.50 weekday menu. Vilaweb came in October; Time Out, Ara, Beteve, El Nacional and 3Cat all filed.

What works

A Hofmann-trained Suquet-de-l'Almirall alum cooks his grandmothers' Sant Andreu recipes for the block he grew up on — and in September 2025 wins Catalonia's inaugural national title for esmorzar de forquilla on the mar i muntanya of botifarra del perol with mongetes del ganxet and sípia bruta. The €17.50 weekday menu is unusually fair for the level of work. Vilaweb (Joan Safont Plumed), Ara, Time Out, Beteve, El Nacional and 3Cat have all filed in the eighteen months since the award. Sant Andreu is under-told on every BCN list — this room earns the trip up Gran de Sant Andreu.

Before you go

Sant Andreu is outside the tourist mental map of Barcelona — that's the editorial virtue, but the practical cost is a metro plus a short walk from L1 Fabra i Puig or L9/L10 Onze de Setembre. Reservations have tightened sharply since the Lliga win: Vilaweb reported queues out the door on a midweek esmorzar. Closed Sunday and Monday; Tue–Wed lunch-only — easy to misplan. No online booking widget; phone or Instagram DM only — verify before going. Small, noisy, working-class register; not a quiet date room.
