Classic Eixample cervecería on Carrer de Balmes — bravas, croquetes, a reliable procession of montaditos, cold caña on tap and the kind of atmosphere that hasn't moved much in decades. The menu doesn't chase novelty; cold seafood arrives clean and well-sourced, the montaditos are honest, and the service is the rapid, unfussy kind that good tapas bars used to run on. Comparisons with the more famous Cervecería Catalana down the road are inevitable — and plenty of regulars will tell you the food is just as good with a fraction of the wait. Not a restaurant that's going to end up on lists, but the neighbourhood cervecería that every barri ought to have and that fewer and fewer still do.
