Chef Omar Malpartida's Peruvian fine dining. Ceviche, tiraditos, and Amazonian ingredients meet Barcelona produce. A celebration of Peruvian biodiversity.
The Delekta Review
Maymanta — Quechua for "where are you from?" — is chef Omar Malpartida's Peruvian fine-dining restaurant in the Eixample. Malpartida trained in Peru and brings deep knowledge of Peruvian culinary tradition, but this isn't a straight transplant: he adapts to Catalan and Mediterranean ingredients without losing the soul of the cuisine. The ceviches and tiraditos are the way in — bright, clean, with the balance of acid and heat that defines great Peruvian cooking. The tasting menu is where Maymanta shows its range: anticuchos, creative takes on lomo saltado, and courses that move between Lima and Barcelona with genuine confidence. The name is the right question — the answer is both places at once. Prices are moderate to high for fine dining. For anyone who thinks Peruvian cuisine peaked at ceviche, Maymanta argues otherwise, and convincingly.
