El Curry

Indian & Bangladeshi · Sant Antoni, Barcelona · €€

Bangladeshi-Indian on Parlament focused on Bengali fish curries — ilish, boal, prawns — plus biryanis and morning dhal. Real community kitchen in trendy Sant Antoni.

The Delekta Review

Carrer del Parlament is thick with brunch spots and vermut bars, and you have to look for El Curry — which is exactly why it is worth finding. It's one of the rare Indian-labelled kitchens in Barcelona that actually leans Bangladeshi, and the fish list is the tell: ilish (the national fish of Bangladesh) in mustard-seed gravy, boal, sea bream, prawn curries, preparations most local Indians don't even attempt. The chicken, beef and lamb biryanis are done the long-dum Bengali way, not the tourist shortcut. Mornings, the room fills with the local Bangladeshi community working through dhal and rice — the best possible endorsement. Modern brick, wood and rattan; service is warm, prices sit around 20 euros a head. Ask what came in fresh that day — that's where the good stuff lives.
