Suto

Japanese/Omakase · Sants, Barcelona · €€€€

Awards: ★ Michelin

Six-seat Michelin-starred Japanese omakase counter where chef Yoshikazu Suto, drawing on 20+ years in Europe, crafts hyper-personalised seasonal menus. Hot and cold courses arrive on artisanal crockery alongside traditional kakigori desserts; the chef-diner boundary dissolves.

The Delekta Review

Six seats. One chef. One Michelin star. Suto in Sants is Barcelona's most intimate starred restaurant — chef Yoshikazu Suto prepares a hyper-personalized omakase at a counter where the boundary between kitchen and dining room doesn't exist. The ambience has been described more like a private house where the staff are cooking for you than a restaurant, and that's exactly right. There's no menu — the chef curates each course for each guest, and the nigiri are the kind of thing reviewers end up calling unforgettable without hyperbole. The proximity to the chef creates an intimacy that larger restaurants simply cannot replicate: you see every knife cut, every brush of soy, every garnish placed with tweezers. The Sants location — near the train station, far from the tourist circuit — adds to the sense of discovery. With only six seats, booking well in advance is essential. The Michelin star confirmed what a small circle of devotees already knew. Prices are significant but proportionate to the experience. If you want to understand what Japanese omakase is supposed to feel like, Suto is the answer in Barcelona.
